Strawberry Shortcake Hat Craft

=========================
Taken on April 2005
=========================

Around April 2005, I created these small hats to go along with a Strawberry Shortcake themed birthday party.

I purchased straw hats, fabric, strawberry stickers and buttons, ribbon and used a glue gun to wrap the fabric and embellished with the stickers, buttons, and ribbon to create these Strawberry Shortcake themed hats that were used as part of the centerpieces with strawberry candy.

Groovin' Gila Monsters! - Team Mascot Coloring Activity

=========================
From 2001
=========================

Hello! Welcome to my Groovin' Gila Monsters Video.
It's a team mascot coloring activity from 2001.

After being at Target Stores for a year, I moved over to Target Financial Services from 2001. Now it's Financial and Retail Services. The team that I was in, we ended up naming it Groovin' Gila Monsters.

We had someone sketch out a mascot for our team's name. Then, I used an old program to do a digital version of that we could then have as a coloring activity & as a mascot, that we could have team mates color. The actual activity, I think, it was either towards the end of 2001. Perhaps, sometime in 2002. I was in that team until 2004. I went ahead and put in 2001 since that was the year that I joined that particular team, and it seemed fitting since I don't have the  specific dates of when we did this specific coloring activity.

But, there you have it.

At the bottom you are seeing each particular Gila Monster as it was colored by different teammates that I had at the time. Anyways, this was a fun activity for that particular team. One of my, the first and favorite teams that I was in during my Target Financial and Retail Services years, TFST at the time. BYE!

Narration: By me.

Audio: Slowed down of the beginning of the song titled Percussions Rhythm from Buddha Bar IV.

Halloween 2012!

=========================
Taken on October 31, 2012
=========================

Finally! The compilation of photos and  videos of Halloween 2012! You've seen most photos and videos of these in the separate videos I made for 2012. The props, the costume dress-up, the pumpkins and jock-o-lanterns, but there finally selected photos from 2012.

Halloween 2012 definitely took more photos and videos due to taking them using the iPod Touch as well as the Sony camera that I had at the time.

Audio: The intro parts of the song Empezar de '0' and Amar Sin Ser Amada by Thalia, both from the El Sexto Sentido album and super slowed down for that creepy sound.

P.S. I really like slowing the music for that creepy type sound if you've noticed. Ha! :)

Halloween 2012 - The Prop!

=========================
Taken on October 31, 2012
=========================

This is a photo collage of some of the photos that I took of the main prop used for decoration. I made sure to take  plenty of  photos of the prop this time and maybe I took too many, he he.

Not sure really what we called this prop, so going to call it Molten Lava Creeper. What would you call it?

Audio: The song Amar Sin Ser Amada by Thalia from the El Sexto Sentido album and super slowed down for that creepy sound.

This is a compilation of the photos and videos (the videos previously uploaded individually as they were) of how the make-up and costumes we used for Halloween 2012.

This is is the only time I remember taking photos making faces with the paint on. It was a fun time.

Halloween 2012 - Pumpkin Decorating Contest - Extended

=========================

This is a compilation of the two videos and handful of photos that I took of the Halloween 2012 Pumpkin Decorating Contest at work.

The pumpkin that my team did was the Black Plague Doctor pumpkin, which really was a creation by Armandzraven.

Audio:  Lowered the volume of the audio from the video themselves and slowed down the song Halls of Insurrection by Midnight Syndicate from the Gates of Delirium album to make it fit almost the entire video.

Halloween 2012 - Pumpkin Decorating Contest - Take Two

=========================
Taken on October 31, 2012
=========================
This is the second video from the Halloween 202 Pumpkin Decorating Contest at work.

Decided to take this second video after going to check to see how the voting was coming along. The first video was taken with iPod Touch and this one with a Sony photo camera.

The voting for these contests  by everyone getting 3 votes. Sometimes it was with beans, or pumpkin seeds, or something similar.  Most people voted just for their team's pumpkin, however  to me that was always not the fair way to vote. I would put one vote for my team's pumpkin, one for the one best decorated one, and one for the best decorated one that included actual carving.

One of my favorite Halloween events is the annual  Pumpkin Decorating Contest at work.

This is one of two videos that I took this year and was taken with the iPod Touch. Sometimes it would annoy me when co-workers would talk to me while taking videos. Not all but the ones that would be extra loud and pointing like towards the end of this video.

The pumpkin that my team did was the Black Plague Doctor pumpkin, which really was a creation by Armandzraven. Unfortunately we didn't win, and don't remember who did.

Audio: From the video itself. Decided to not add anything else to it.

Halloween 2012 - Desk Decorating Contest

=========================
Taken on October 31, 2012
=========================
For Halloween 2012, the department of the company I worked for created a desk decorating contest between the two teams. Each team got to decorate an empty desk with a theme of their choosing.

This is a compilation of all the photos and videos which I took using an iPod Touch and a camera. I'd previously uploaded the videos from each.

The Village was the name of the theme that my team selected. Literally we created a village with different areas like the cemetery, pumpkin patch, ghost are, witches corner, bat house, ghost area, evil tree forest,  spiders and ant hills, etc.

Dr. Frankenstein's Workshop was the name of the theme that the competing team came up with.

This is a collage of the photos  and videos from the Pumpkin and Chile Festival at Schenpf Farms in Arizona. I'd previously uploaded the videos, corn maze, hay ride, fireworks,  as they were.

It was quite dusty and no matter how much I tried to clean the lens of the camera, most photos came out with that dusty look. Because of that I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked. The video of the corn maze was with the iPod Touch 4 and not camera itself.

Color adjusted the hay ride and corn maze videos to see them a bit better.

Audio:  I slowed down the song titled Garden of Sakuntala by Amethystium from the album Aphelion and plays throughout the photos and videos.

Halloween 2011!

=========================
Taken on October 31, 2011
=========================
This is a photo collage of the photos from Halloween 2011!

The photos themselves were taken throughout the month of October and up to Halloween. Previously I'd taken photos mostly only on the 31st, however for some reason in 2010 didn't take any photos, therefore made sure to take plenty this year.

Having gotten a Sony Digital Camera in December 2006, which was definitely an upgrade from the HP camera that came with a photo printer bundle i'd gotten in 2005 helped  me take more photos more often as long as I didn't forget my camera.

For memory's sake I wanted to list the main prop info for this and previous years. Bu main prop I mean the big one used at or near the front door.  If you do want to take a look at them, watch my Halloween photo videos.

Halloween 2005 - Housewarming Halloween Party with no particular big prop. Jack-O-Lanterns at the entrance with tombstone, however I'd gotten a fantastic looking witch mask, so I sat trying to not move by the entrance, so technically me dressed as an evil green witch was the main prop.

Halloween 2006 -  Grim Reaper

Halloween 2007 - Scary Clown

Halloween 2008 -  Non-Scary Clown (The trick-or-treaters were a bit too spooked the previous year)

Halloween 2009 - This year I've got minimal photos and unfortunately none of any props or decorations. For some reason also no work event photos and I think this was the year they stopped doing the costume contest, which would last several years before it was renewed

Halloween 2010 - Though I have photos of work events,  not a single photo of what we did to decorate the house or props inside or out. It may have been the year that the prop made that looked similar to the girl in The Ring as the following year that was repurposed into an Evil Pumpkin Head prop.

Halloween 2011 -  Enormous Black Widow Spider and Evil Pumpkin Head person.

Audio:  The song Ebony Shroud by Midnight Syndicate from the Gates of Delirium album. slowed down for an eerier sound to it.

Halloween 2011 - Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Extended

=========================

This is a collage of the photos and video from Halloween 2011 ~  Pumpkin Decorating Contest at work. You may have seen the video part before as I'd previously uploaded it in its original/unedited form. It is still in its original form other than to remove the audio and add the title. The pumpkin that my team decorated this year was the Angry Birds themes one.

Music: Extracted the audio of the video and slowed it down for that creepy background effect. The song playing throughout is Dark Discovery by Midnight Syndicate from the Gates of Delirium album. I also slowed that song down for an even more eerie effect.

This is a collage of the photos and videos from the 2011 Fall Festival at Schnepf Farms in Arizona.  The videos may be familiar to you as I'd previously uploaded them as they were. Wish I'd taken more photos and/or videos. I couldn't find the program to add an image of it.

This was the first time I went to this festival and it was lots of fun. Corn maze, fireworks, spooks, face painting, pumpkins, etc.

Music: A file named theone which I'm not sure where it's from. I slowed it down a bit.

Moving back to Texas!

Moving from Texas

In 1998, I moved from the small town of Texas I grew up in to The large Phoenix Metro area in Arizona.  When I moved it was to go to school with the idea that at some point i'd move back. When that would be, however, wasn't something I'd thought about.

The small town in Texas had just one of some large chain stores, restaurants, and such. One Wal-Mart, one McDonald's, One Burger King, One JCPenney, One Dairy Queen, One KFC, One Popeyes, One Church's Chicken, One H-E-B Grocery, One Movie Theater with 3 screens inside the One Mall, One High School, One Sonic, One Peter Piper Pizza, ... and score! Two Pizza Huts of which one was in the mall. You get the idea right? A small town with just enough, perhaps it qualified as a small city, as I've now traveled and seen towns that have just one stop light with little to no large chain anything, the exception sometime a  regional grocer or a McDonald's or such. Through the years the town has grown, and now there's a few more national and regional stores. Not quite enough to be a large city, but well on its way. When I think back now, perhaps it was actually a small city, but moving from it to the large Phoenix Metro area makes it seem like a small town to me. Would I ever move back?

In the Interim

After a couple of years I had my Associates Degree, an Associate of Arts in Visual Communications. Yup Graphic Design! Instead of continuing to the "normal" path for a Bachelors, I changed schools and due to that had to start over. At the new school I completed an Associate of Arts in Multimedia and went on to work on the Bachelor's, however I started to question whether that was truly the path for me. I liked what I'd learned, however not enough to and didn't continue.

In the interim of attempting to figure out what I truly wanted to do, I kept working at a place I enjoyed enough to continue, even if not fully satisfied. I participated, volunteered, and took part in many satisfying events. Heck, because of this the company I worked at has rewarded me twice with trips. In 2008 to Memphis, TN (Why Did he Go To Memphis?) where I learned about and toured St. Judes Children's Research Hospital and Target House. The second time was to New York City, where I attended the Family Equality Council's 2018 Night at The Pier event.

Is it Time to Move

Although I've enjoyed my time in Arizona, it was around 2016 when I started really thinking, prepping even (account with a local bank and a website for a possible business or organization Amalgam Creative Arts), of moving back to Texas in the next several years. I wouldn't move back to the same small city but rather to San Antonio or Austin. Cities that are large enough to enjoy what I'v come to like about the large city living yet closer to family. Austin is/was really my preferred choice. Although I've learned you don't need a degree if you are passionate enough and take the time to learn on your own, I thought maybe there I'd even go back to revisit completing a Bachelor's Degree, even if it means starting over.

The year was 2017, and the small city I'm from held their first Pride Parade. I flew out to visit during that time and really made me decide that I'd like to move back to be able to at some point help them and/or other organizations grow or expand their reach. Maybe even starting one myself or a store of some kind. After all I've had some experience when I was the De-Staging Lead for the 2013 Phoenix Pride Parade and the Route Manager for it in 20142015, and 2016. After this I led my companies participation in the Phoenix Parade itself in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

December 2019, my mother passed away. Even though my mother visited me once or twice a year and similarly I would visit periodically, in the back of my mind I always thought I'd be in Texas to be there much more often. Thankful that I was able to be there during her last moments.

Moving back to Texas

As I write this with the dates, it makes me realize that maybe I should have moved in the later part of 2018 or beginning of 2019 because I stopped enjoying the work I was doing in 2016 but stuck with it. It gave me the ability to grow and learn. Then, an opportunity came up in 2019 to do something different. I took it and now I very much enjoy again what I'm doing at the company I work at, even if it is from home during this time.

The time is getting closer for me to move back to Texas. My current non-planned time line is within 2-5 years, leaning on the sooner instead or later, however what isn't clear to me is if it'll be Austin, San Antonio, or my small city that has grown to be a bigger small city.

What I Would Like, to Move

A few days ago I made a list of what the small city I am from has and what it would need for me to really consider moving to it rather than to a large "nearby" city, Austin. The list included many different stores, grocery stores, restaurants, etc.,  however when I look back at it, the first one thing that the city needs is an alternate grocery store. With the exception of the small town stores, the only major store is the Texas only grocery store H-E-B. Yes there is a Wal-Mart and has groceries, however I choose to shop there as little as possible. A Kroger or a Safeway/Albertson's, or a Target,  or WinCo Foods, or other grocer would really be ideal.

The List: A Wishful Thinking

Before I throw away the list I made, to eliminate the clutter, consisting of stores that exist in the small city I'm from and stores I'd like to see open, here is the list.

Existing: H-E-B, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, JCPenney, Ross, Kohl's, GNC, Autozone, O'really, Discount Tire, KFC, Bush's Chicken, Church's Chicken, Popeye's, Log John Silver, Chick-Fil-A, Mc Donald's Burger King, Panda Express, Wendy's, Dairy Queen, Whataburger, Wingstop, Taco Bell, Peter Piper Pizza, Pizza Hut, Luby's, IHOP, Chilli's, Fuddruckers, Huddle House, Sonic, BBVA, Subway, Papa Johns. I might have missed some?

Wishful Thinking: Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Smart & Final, Big Lots, Target WinCo, Costco, Dutch Bro's, Chipotle, Panera, Olive Garden, CPK, Waffle House, Jack in the Box, Carl's Jr, Party City, 99 Cent Only Stores, Harkins or AMC Theaters, Alamo Drafthouse, Del Taco, Denny's, Red Lobster, Sprouts, Natural Grocers, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Kroger, Albertson's/Safeway, Whole Foods, BofA, Well's Fargo, Chase, Dillard's, Macy's,Walgreens, Cane's, Goodwill,  additionally I've never seen an Asian nor Indian Market, Pagan/Wicca Store, Candle specific store. There's plenty that I'm sure I've missed.

Soon, this list may not be accurate as many stores may not make it through the current pandemic.

Another type of business/organization that would benefit the city would be an LGBT Center, an organization similar to Treasures 4 Teachers, and a permanent food bank. Although the South Texas Food Bank has been expanding reach to include this small city with their mobile food pantry, a permanent large food bank is really needed. In addition, it'd be fantastic if there was something like Borderlands Produce Rescue as well.

See you soon Texas!

Halloween 2010 - Mask Decorating Contest!

========================= Taken on October 27, 2010 ========================= In 2010, the department I was in at work had a mask decorating contest. Blank masks were handed out to creatively decorate. The one I brought for the contest was the Zipper Face mask, a creation from Armandzraven. This is a collage of the photos plus the videos. The videos are the ones previously updated just as is, so you may have seen them before. Music: The audio of the videos was extracted and then slowed down by half to create a creepy background at the beginning and the end, while the song (slowed to 0.75) Chant of the Awakening by Arcana from the Album Cantar De Procella plays throughout.

Halloween 2010 - Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Extended Photo and Video Collage

========================= Taken on October 27, 2010 ========================= This is an extended version of the Halloween 2010 Pumpkin Decorating Contest from work. I combined the many photos I took as well as the video, which you may have watched before as the video I uploaded years ago just as is. The pumpkin that my team decorated was the Garfield one. My favorite one was the witch, however the one that won this year was the hamburger one. Although we had been doing pumpkin decorating contests for Halloween since ever I started working at Target Tempe, this was the first time I took some photos and videos. Music: The audio is from the video, extracted and slowed down to fit for the entire length of this photo and video collage. It gives it a creepy sound to it. #Halloween #pumpkin

Sedona & Jerome Roadtrip! ~ July 2006

========================= Taken in July 2006 ========================= This is a photo video collage of the July 2006 road trip to Sedona and Jerome in Arizona. Might make a second or alternate version of this if I find more photos. Music: The first song is Autumn, Again by A Sunny Day in Glasgow from the Autumn, Again album. I slowed it down to 0.68 of original speed. The second song is 100_0 (Snowdays Forever) by A Sunny Day in Glasgow from the Autumn, Again album. There's a few spots where it seems to skip just a bit, so, thinking it was a constant bit issue, I converted it, however it still sounded the same. I use Camtasia 9 which appears to be the one causing the issue as it sounds okay in the project. Oh well. Perhaps its time for a different program. Let me know of one you use that doesn't cause this. #Travel #RoadTrip #AsiEsLaVida

This year the decorations were minimal. Used what we had, no new ones that I can remember were purchased. Dressed up to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Real pumpkins is something we do each year, however this year took no photos of home decor, just of what we wore to hand out candy.

Music: File name of Resmus with title of Research. Slowed down to .25 of regular for that eerie effect. Still don't know where it is from so let me know if you know.

Michael Jordan - McDonald's Souvenir Cup

Michael Jordan - McDonald's Souvenir Cup

My Mother passed away in 2019 ( read more here: Mi Bella Madre ~ My Beautiful Mother) and I'm slowly going through stuff to keep, donate, toss, etc. If you read my eliminate the clutter post, then you know it's going to take me quite a while.

So going through items, I found many old souvenir cups. There isn't a need to keep them, so they've been tossed, however I took short videos to remember them. Some of the cups are classic things that places used to give. Nostalgia I suppose.

Mi Bella Madre ~ My Beautiful Mother

Mi Bella Madre ~ My Beautiful Mother

My beautiful mother passed away this past December. It's been a whirlwind of emotions. Our family and friends have been very supportive during this time. I had the last word during the burial of her ashes in Mexico. I'm not a person who shows outwardly emotion because I understand that there is a reason for anything and everything that happens, and death is currently inescapable. I'm thankful that she was peaceful during her last moments and that I was able to be by her side.

I wrote down what I said during the burial ceremony. Here's my last words:

Muchas gracias a todos los que estan aqui y los que estan presente de corazon y alma.

Por su apoyo, por su aprecio y el cariño que lebrindaron a mi madre en vida y en sus ultimos dias.

Se que en sus ultimos dias se dio cuenta lo querida que era y se fue tranquila.

Muchas gracias a mi familia por todo su apoyo.

Gracias.
