My Vegas Trip... 5/14/07 - Morning

This post and the posts that will follow with the title My Vegas Trip, were written during my visiting of Vegas...

5/14/07 - Morning

With boarding passes at hand Aaron and I waited patiently near our gate for our plane to arrive so we could depart to Vegas. Our Flight 1380 through Southwest was to leave Sunday, May 13 a
t 1:20 pm.

Then through the intercom the Southwest attendant lets us know that the plane that was to arrive to pick us up had some mechanical problem so our flight was delayed as we waited for a plane coming from Sacramento. Delay Time 2 hours.

This is the first time in my l
ife that a flight of mine was delayed. Aaron said to me if we had reserved our flights with US Airways this would not have happened. So we sat, impatiently now waiting for the new plane. Aaron watched Family Guy on his portable DVD player and I played New Super Mario Bros. on my Nintento DS Lite.

The flight itself was fast. We took a shuttle to the rental car facility and picked up the car I had reserved. They actually didn't have the car type I had reser
ved, so the guy gave me a free class upgrade. I had originally chosen a compact car like a Dodge Neon, he gave us a Ford Fusion. -note to self: look at these next time I buy a new car.

Flight Delay. Free car-class upgrade. Still an ok day.

We drove to Desert Paradise Resort where we were staying. check-in was fast. The 1-bedroom we got is
neat. It has a full-size washer and dryer, walk in closet with safe box, full kitchen stocked with plates, glasses silverware, etc., roman tub, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, maid service, private balcony, 2 pools, 1 spa, fitness center, concierge, a tv in the bedroom, a tv in the living room with DVD player, and it's gated. I am really glad now that we joined Club Sunterra. So while Aaron took a nap, I took inventory of items stocked in the apartment.

With Aaron rested and I tired as hell we drove towards the strip. I wanted to go to th
e pyramid one, which now I know is called Luxor. The décor was fab, but slots everywhere. I guess I hadn't realized that it's all about gambling in Vegas. You see I don't gamble and I don't like cigarette/cigar smoke. Apparently all the places are like that here in Vegas.

So we walked down through Excalibur, which I didn't like, and got as far as the New York New York Casino. It was now 10:30pm and I was extremely tired and hungry. My normal bedtime is 8pm and on occasions 9:30pm but that's pushing it. After the long delay in flight all I wanted to do is eat and sleep. Aaron played a little at New York New York, so I went and got Krispy Kreme to have for the next day with coffee.

After this, we walked back to where we parked and drove down the whole strip and headed to the resort. We were driving down throw Chinatown and saw a Chinese place still open, so we stopped, ordered, ate, bagged our leftovers and drove back to Desert Paradise.

So as I sit here on Monday, May 14 writing this, I am drinking coffee and eating Krispy Kremes. One nice surprise of yesterday was that the Chinese place we stopped at was named Joyful House Chinese Cuisine, which was on my list of places I wanted to go. It was awesome to go to Joyful without even looking for it. So Joyful House is crossed off the list and whether I get to go to other places on my list or not it doesn't matter as all I wanted was to go to at least one of them and that's done.
