This is the promotional video received on Monday, December 14, 2009 with the subject, "Target presents Nuestra Navidad on Univsion: Dec 17 and Dec 25." This was part of the multicultural marketing by Target at the time with the TV special to be broadcast in Spanish at 9 p.m. CT Thursday, Dec. 17, on Univision. It would be rebroadcasted at 10 a.m. CT on Christmas Day.
The program featured a visit to the White House for an interview with President Obama and longtime Target partner Gloria Estefan.
Also showcased was P.S. 155 in East Harlem New York, where Target and local team members had recently renovated the library - donating thousands of books and creating an inspiring space for kids to learn, thrive and grow. The segment included interviews with Principal Lillian Ortiz, the school librarian and some very happy students, as well as holiday music performances by David Archuleta and Latin entertainer PeeWee.
The broadcast also included performances by various artists as well as a look at singer/songwriter Luis Fonsi's visit to Target House, a free home-away-from-home for families receiving long-term treatment at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
As the sole sponsor of the program, Target ran their Spanish-language holiday TV spots, as well as their Dream in Color spot celebrating Hispanic heritage that featured Principal Lillian Ortiz and Luis Fonsi, as well as actress Elizabeth Pena and racecar driver Juan Pablo Montoya of the Target Racing Team.
This video may be a bit pixelated since I enlarged it to fit. Additionally, although I didn't record the program itself, you may be able to find some of the performances here on YouTube and likely somewhere out through the innerwebs.
I remember watching most of the program when it aired, mostly to watch Thalia's holiday song performance but didn't record any of it. The video is a little pixelated because I enlarged it.
